Agriturismo La Capanna in Montegioco is a farm located on the hills covered with cereals and grapes but specialized in animal husbandry.
At t La Capanna about 400 pigs and 120 cattle are breed with a closed-loop system made with organic method which produces high-quality meat: the animals are born, grown and slaughtered on the farm.
The cured meat produced on the farm, for these reasons, received the first prize from the Accademia delle 5 T.
The whole area planted and used in the cultivation of fodder and cereals such as wheat, barley and sorghum which are used for the preparation of wholesome feed.
All cured meat and meat can be tasted directly in the restaurant La Capanna.
But La Capanna in Montegioco is not just meat and cured meats. The wine sector is well developed with some 22 hectares of vineyards spread around the farm. The vines are the traditional local ones such as Barbera Dolcetto Cortese and Timorasso.
You can drink this wine in Montegioco, near Alessandria in the restaurant of the agriturismo, with its spacious rooms and also ideal for weddings and events that require the right ambience.
In summer you eat on the terrace overlooking the vineyards of the estate and the evenings are enlivened by live music.
Agriturismo La Capanna in Montegioco has joined the project "Educational Farms" and arranges visits with children in kindergarten, elementary and middle school with the aim to familiarize the children with nature.
